About the Concept

Rêve is designed to change the way you sleep. By gamifying sleep, Rêve will provide you with the incentive to sleep more. Soon you will be experiencing better sleep quality in addition to a few extra hourse of sleep every night.

So what incentive does Rêve provide? LUCID DREAMING! At the app's core, it's designed to facilitate lucid dreaming. While lucid dreaming provides the incentive, our goal is to change the behavior of users and help them in their quest for better sleep.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of lucid dreaming, it is basically refers to a state of conscious dreaming. When people are aware they are dreaming, they can manipulate the dream and live out their wildest fantasies.

For those unfamiliar with the concept of lucid dreaming, it basically refers to a state of conscious dreaming. When people are aware they are dreaming, they can manipulate the dream and live out their wildest fantasies.

There are many theories on how to invoke a lucid dream. However, one thing most agree on is a good amount of sleep. People who wish to lucid dream should be getting the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Experts also suggest keeping a dream journal and performing reality checks throughout the day. Rêve helps you perform all of these actions!

Think lucid dreaming isn't for you? Think again! There are many people who are known to have lucid dreams, including the Director of Avatar and Titanic James Cameron; famous surrealist painter Salvador Dali; and American physicist Richard Feynman.

About the Team


Holly Sweat, Project Manager

Holly is a third-year digital and broadcast journalism student pursuing a minor in spanish and a certificate in new media. As project manager, she oversees all aspects of the project, and she maintains a sense of order within the group. In her free time, Holly enjoys yoga, reality television and reading.

Will Linto, Quality Assurance

Will is a senior public relations major and a communication studies and anthropology double minor. He is also working towards the New Media Certificate. In his role as quality assurance, he is responsible for maintaining the website, facilitating beta testing and evaluating all aspects of the project. Outside of school and work, he enjoys food, television and playing frisbee with his four dogs.

Katherine Weimer, Graphic Designer

Katherine Weimer is finishing her last year as a magazine journalism major here at the University of Georgia. When she is not busy with school she works part time performing her passion of baking while getting some marketing experience as an intern for the University of Georgia Research Foundation. She currently holds the role of designer for the New Media Capstone project Rêve.

Paul Merrill, Programmer

Paul is a third year at the University of Georgia majoring in Mass Media Arts and minoring in Film Studies. As Reve's programmer, he is in charge of understanding and utilizing the technology behind the creation of an application. In his free time he is a member of Cine Club downtown, sings in the African American Choral Ensemble and enjoys moonlit walks on the beach.
